Congratulations to our past award recipients

Reaching Hearts Through Reading

Teachers use the funds to pay for buses to expand their program of connecting elementary school children with seniors in retirement care facilities.

"This grant would allow our organization, Reaching Hearts Through Reading to expand to a second care facility, Apple Tree Retirement Center in Kaysville. Three additional classes of second grade students from Heritage Elementary and their teachers - involving 80-90 additional children and parent volunteers are committed to repeat the same program Leslie Bertram has done at Apple Village Retirement center"

Lutheran Social Service of Utah

Supporting their work with refugee women coming to Utah from regions of genocide.

"Grond Loc," an African Women's Music, Song & Dance Troupe, is currently in need of funds to establish themselves with business cards, web-site, and hand sewn costumes. The women are from Kenya, Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania."

The Utah Coalition for Caregiver Support

Coordinate their recently established Time Bank - a concept of reciprocity: for every hour a member spends doing something for someone in their Time Bank community, they earn equivalent support.

"Although individual members can do exchanges independently, it has become apparent that having a coordinator to oversee and guide our initial progress would be critical. The paid coordinator would make the wheels turn --- they would help facilitate the service exchanges between members and provide technical support for Time Bank members to learn and use the software."
